Puppies 28 milk teeth will grow through from 3 - 6 weeks of age

Puppies will have their adult permanent teeth by the age of 4 - 6 months, though some dogs may not have them through until 12 months.

Adult dog teeth consist of:

10 molars - used for crushing
16 premolars - used for tearing
12 incisors - used for nibbling
4 canines - used for grabbing and puncturing

Signs of Teething:

Change of appetite
Irritability
Drooling
Chewing!

Healthy dog teeth should appear whitish-yellow. Teeth that have a hard yellow-brown appearance are showing signs of calculus build up.

Healthy gums will be salmon-pink coloured with no signs of bleeding and lumps.

A dental chew will help to keep your dog's teeth clean, as will regular brushing with a special dog toothbrush and toothpaste.
