Before we discuss the signs of dehydration in a dog flat-coats will look at healthy hydration in dogs. To maintain your dog's nutritious state and help it maintain normal functions it needs
access to clean fresh water in its own drinking bowl. A dog will need approximately 45 - 50mls
of water per kilogram of bodyweight each day. So an averaged sized flat coated retriever will
need about 1.5 litres of water each day. This amount will vary for each dog, depending on whether
it is fed dry or wet food, the weather, the amount of exercise it gets, etc.
